A YMCA caregiver was cleared of charges after accusations of smacking and kicking a child.

The Frederick state's attorney's office released surveillance video of the incident in which 21-year-old Amanda Markoe was shown kicking and hitting a 2-year-old at the Frederick YMCA on June 27.

She was initially charged by police with felony abuse but prosecutors decided to pursue misdemeanor charges, officials said.

The child's mother, Rebecca King, demanded a grand jury hear the case, but the grand jury chose not to indict Markoe for either a felony or a misdemeanor.

She will not be prosecuted but she is no longer working at the YMCA.
