Second Suspect Caught, Third Still On Loose

Police continued to investigate Friday after an officer shot and killed a bank robbery suspect following a chase through at least three counties.

Police Look For 3rd Robbery Suspect

Police spokeswoman Cpl. Jennifer Reidy said three men robbed a Bank of America in the 6300 block of Ten Oaks Road in Clarksville at about 9:15 a.m. Thursday, and one of the men shot a bank employee in the hand.

Reidy said the men fled in a pickup truck, and when police tried to pull over the truck, the men took off through Prince George's County and into the Anne Arundel County section of Laurel.

Reidy said the men bailed out of the truck and fled on foot. She said shots were fired at police, and that one of the men was shot by an officer. The man was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Officials said officers from Montgomery, Howard and Prince George's counties, as well as state police helped in the chase. It is not yet known to which jurisdiction the officer who took the fatal shots belonged.

The chase eventually ended near Angelton Court and Greencastle Road in Burtonsville, Montgomery County.

Police said they captured a second suspect at about 4 p.m. and were questioning him, but a third person is still on the loose. Police said the third person is a light-skinned black man in his late teens or early 20s.

Anyone with information is asked to call police. Emergency officials have notified residents in the area and are warning them not to open their doors to strangers.

Roads in the vicinity of Greencastle Road and Route 29 (Columbia Pike) are being restricted to residential use only, and vehicles in the vicinity are being stopped and searched.
